Nanjing — Liuzhou (8th day of the "green trip" on Monday, May 13, 2024)

Visit to the Nanjing Memorial Hall for the victims of the massacre by the Japanese occupying forces.

Afterwards, we will visit the house of John Rabe. John Rabe worked in China for Siemens and witnessed not only the invasion of Nanjing by Japanese soldiers, but also the murder of 300,000 of the city's inhabitants.
He created a safe zone in the city, marked by swastikas, and thus saved a third of the city's population.

At midday, we were invited by the president of Nanjing's Friendship Society to a meal that seemed like a state banquet. Touched by the effort our hosts had made, we enjoyed a 12-course menu and were treated like royalty. The appreciation shown to us left a deep impression and filled us with gratitude.

This is followed by a short visit to a craftsmen's and shopping area.

Then it's off to the airport. We're flying for two hours to Liuzhou, 1500 km away from Nanjing.

The next day we will visit the automotive city of Liuzhou, the Wuling Factory there, and have a discussion about the future of urban transport.
